Chatted with some people over at Kartemquin (the Interreupters movie) and they told me Dee sings the cover of Don't Give On Me in the movie trailer. I would love to get a copy of that song, if possible. Can't seem to find it anywhere and I don't want such a beautiful song to be lost on some hard drive somewhere. Thanks - please email back, I'd really appreciate it.

Best,
Phil

On Portland Oregon Public Radio, I heard "Spring Things" and am trying to find it online for purchase but am coming up short! Can you help me???

Since I listened to your magnificent cd “Wild Is The Wind”, I’ve deemed you today’s greatest jazz singer, in the best tradition of the greatest of the past – Bessie, Billie, Ella, Sarah…..
And I recently bought a used cd (almost impossible to find) of your previous highly enjoyable “Live at the Hothouse”.
Few days ago I heard you in concert in Milan – Italy and was thrilled with your fantastic singing as well as the playing of your Evolution Ennsemble!
I can't wait for your next record to listen to…. I hope very soon!
Thank you hearthily!

Fairianne Edwards

Dear Dee Alexander:

Thank you so much again for this incredible concert: we had a wonderful
time.

Your voice is particularly beautiful and moreover the way you use it is so
rich and inspiring!
When you sing, our minds leave the ground and travel far what stunned
me is that when you scat, your voice has so many colors and that you draw
real paintings with these colors. Then, when you have brought us so far
away that we have lost even the very notion of song with words, when we
actually don't have the notion that there could be words anymore
-because they have become useless in the wide landscape of your sounds- at
that very moment, clear, warm, supple, generous, so beautiful, your jazz
diva voice gently comes back with the text. When you go back on the theme
like that, it is as if a bird was coming back, or as if you were waking us
up gently.
The use you make of silences is excellent too: they are music. You guys
had a real group sound, the musical flesh was there, united. The bass
player is incredible.

Another thing I admired: when you sing love, not a second you have the
least mannerism, and though you are never gross; I mean you have power
with no brutality whatsoever and you have sensibility and softness with no mannerism or sentimentalism whatsoever, bravo! Always feeling and emotion
without superficiality and pretense. You are true, sincere, generous in
your art and really, it was awesome.

Your voice flows like a shining river, with no apparent effort. You use it
like an instrument.
My piano jazz teacher gave me hints to follow that path. I took piano
jazz lessons to accompany myself when I sing but my teacher does not train
singers. He thinks that to be able to use my voice like an instrument and
improve the variety of my scats, I need to work harder on my piano
choruses. Do you play piano or another instrument?

The songs you wrote are excellent.
Really you were blessed with an incredible talent and frankly, this
concert was like a dream come true to me.
Last but not least: some say jazz is dead but you are proving it is
definitively not dead with a jazz that sounds very actual!

Take care and sing, sing, sing!

Peace,
God bless you,
Fairianne Edwards

Great concert last night at Petrillo!! I purchased your cd but couldn't stay for the autograph session. Would it be possible for me to send you the booklet for you to sign with a self-addressed stamped envelope? If so, please advise me where to send it.

THIS BITTER EARTH..............Heard you for the first time on Sirius. What a total pleasure for a Saturday night, to make me recall all of the greats I've known, and add Dee Alexander . I'm a really old timer that grew up in Chicago when there was so much exposure to the legends of jazz and the friendliness to be able to converse one on one. I remember Dinah...................there's a hint with your style. But, I would honestly say that you bring an excitingly unique voice that will set new standards. Thanks for being here. I hope to see you in person. And , by the way, your pianist is fantastic.
